About Us


David Richards

David directs the Company’s general brokerage efforts, investing the majority of his time representing buyers and sellers of land. Years of experience with purchase and sale transactions involving a wide range of improved and unimproved property types, and his broad understanding of development issues enable him to guide his clients to sound real estate investment decisions.

David primarily represents buyers and developers of retail, industrial, hotel, office and residential properties, with clients ranging from small, local developers to large publicly traded real estate investment trusts. He also has extensive listing experience, helping a wide range of sellers realize maximum value for their properties. 

Prior to forming Richards Commercial Properties, David enjoyed over twenty years of business experience primarily involved in real estate and construction activities, including commercial and residential development and construction, historic property renovation, and general brokerage. He was a licensed general contractor in both Virginia and North Carolina.

He is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned a BS degree in horticulture, and is a member of several professional, community and church organizations.


Bill Rush

Bill directs the Company’s Construction and development efforts, as well as managing the Residential Brokerage and Marketing services. Years of management experience, production oversight, and a marketing focus enable Bill to guide his clients along their path of real estate investment.

Bill primarily serves his clients as a consultant and advisor, offering to them the benefit of his knowledge in the construction of their project or the marketing of their real property.

Prior to joining Richards Commercial Properties, Bill enjoyed 22 years of public and private business experience. After successfully earning a Triple Major from Va Tech in Business Administration, Marketing and Production Operations Management, Bill invested four years with Georgia Pacific Corporation and three years with Berry Enterprises. Bill’s marketing volume, in excess of $25M annually, and his management of both National and Regional building suppliers, uniquely qualifies him to understand the construction industry. Purchasing Volume in excess of $12M annually and the numerous contacts and knowledge this experience yields also positions Bill well to advise his clients and guide them to wise decisions. 

In addition to the Private Enterprise experiences described above, Public business experience for five years as Town Manager gained Bill a wealth of multi-tasking management insight: Bill managed all aspects of daily operations for the town including personnel; budget preparation; billing & receivables; purchasing; customer relations; emergency management services, fire & police departments; water & sewer departments. Bill was responsible for business and industrial recruitment, grant writing, and working with other governmental agencies. Bill field managed all special projects for the town including water line and sewer infrastructure. Bill served on many boards, commissions, and committees representing the town and understands the political ‘lay of the land.'
